She had a daughter from a previous marriage and was head over heels in love with a man in a similar position. Jo was born in the UK but moved to South Africa at the age of thirteen. For many years she divided her time between the two countries, working primarily as Head of Creative for Primedia's 567 Cape Talk and then as Senior Creative Writer for GWR Radio Group in the UK (now Global Media). She has also worked as a session vocalist for some of the biggest names in world music and is currently an Associate Lecturer in Creative Writing and Advanced Creative Writing for the Open University.
